Technology

CropTailor has access to a unique technology platform optimized for oats. With the innovative combination of traditional plant breading tools with the latest molecular tools and advanced bioinformatics CropTailor opens the door to a more precise and diversified oat breeding. Our development pipeline can be divided to four main activities:

1. Formulation - Formulation of potentially profitable traits
2. Identification - Identification of key genes linked to the trait
3. "Tailoring" - Improve trait by gene modification
4. Validation - Trait validation in target plant

CropTailor has the unique ability to modify predefined oat genes with high precision using either TILLING or gene technology. TILLING is a technique based on production of mutagenized plant collections combined with systematic screening for mutations in a specific target sequence (i.e. direct identification of mutated gene/trait). The major advantages with TILLING are that TILLING will allow high throughput screening and that plants modified by TILLING are not defined as GMO.  However, for confirmation of distinct molecular changes CropTailor has access to an effective GMO-protocol for oat.
