CropTailor was founded in januari 2007 by professor Olof Olsson, Marcus Bräutigam, the entreprenur Rickard Öste, Jan Rundqvist, Cartsen Arnt-Jensen and the VL Foundation for Resarch and development. In march 2007 GU-Holding became a part owner of CropTailor. CropTailor's operation is located at Göteborg University, and the research and development takes place in close collaboration with professor Olsson's research group at Göteborg University.

CropTailor business idea is to design and develop commercial crop cultivars with novel traits directly from market request by utilizing advanced know-how in molecular biology, bioinformatics and unique gene modification techniques. Initially, CropTailor is focused on development of new oat cultivars.

Recently, the team behind CropTailor has been able to establish good contacts with several industrial partners (both national and international). Together with these new partners we will initiate several new development projects focused on oat.
